Cheryl has lectured on training, canine nutrition, play in dogs, and other topics at such venues as the Tufts Animal Expo, the Purina Nutrition Forum, the Animal Fancier's Club in Japan, the Association of Pet Dog Trainers annual conference, and at home in Washington for Terry Ryan's Legacy.
This year, Cheryl won the Maxwell medallion from the Dog Writers Association of America for her short book on trick training, and the Eukanuba award for excellence in writing on canine health for her Dog World (U.S.) article "The Little Dog Laughed."
Cheryl has a large backlist of magazine articles that have appeared in the AKC Gazette, Dog World, and Veterinary Practice News, available for reprint internationally. Many cover various aspects of conformation and performance dog sports.
Cheryl has competed with her own dogs in conformation, obedience, agility, water rescue, flyball, and field trials. She is currently practicing agility, freestyle, and tracking with her Kelpie/sighthound mix, Nestle.
